CLINTON MACHINE CO.

Machining for the tire industry
since 1964.

We’re a U.S.-based machine shop with 3 generations of experience.

Based just outside of Akron, OH, Clinton Machine Co. has been serving the tire industry with bead rings, PCI rings, pilot rings, clamp rings, and bladder shaping units since 1964. Although we specialize in machining parts for tire molds for some of the nation’s largest tire companies, we don’t limit ourselves - we can machine, engrave, and program a wide variety of parts. We welcome short-run jobs of a few pieces as much as larger jobs of a few hundred, and on-time delivery is our priority. In fact, quick turnaround is the name of our game. And because we’re ISO 9001:2015 certified, quality is guaranteed.

We might be a small machine shop, but our customer service is huge. Technically-savvy office staff keep you updated on the status of your order, returning missed calls the same day - every business day - and can open and read your technical drawings in PDF, DXF, DWG, PGL, and more. We ship internationally and work with freight forwarders everywhere.

We even accept drawings for quote through our website, and every submission is protected by our basic NDA; we’ll never share, sell, or disclose your drawings or RFQ’s. Want to know more about us? Click below:

Our Specialties

CUSTOM TIRE MOLD RINGS & UNITS

We’ve been making bead rings, PCI rings, clamp rings, pilot rings, and bladder shaping units for over 60 years (so we’re pretty good at it), and with the exception of repeat orders, they’ve all been custom. From as small as a few inches to 80 inches in diameter, machined rings are our bread and butter.

ENGRAVING & STAMPING

Custom engraving and stamping on your product - including serial numbers, part numbers, or drawing numbers - is something we do every day. Venting/microventing, grooving, threading, and inserts exactly where you specify, every time.

CNC LATHE & MILL PROGRAMMING

We still recall our first CNC machine arriving in the 70’s - and a few of our current machinists were the first in our shop to work on them. This means that experienced eyes are looking over your drawings, anticipating a finished product always within tolerance.

SMALL SHOP FLEXIBILITY

We value the relationships we have with our customers. Because they matter to us, we do our best to be flexible to meet customer requests and needs, in both turnaround time and delivery.

WORLDWIDE SHIPPING

Our office staff works with freight forwarders nearly every day to ship our customers’ orders where they’re needed - overseas or right here at home. On request, we even photograph products prior to departure for customers, so they know exactly what to expect, whether via LTL or parcel carriers.

5-AXIS MILLING/CAM PROGRAMMING

With our two Hurco 5-axis mills, we’re able to put text or engraving on almost any contour we work on. Using the most cutting-edge version of BobCAD to create the toolpaths for our mills, we are committed to staying ahead of the curve.
